For the past twenty years, Scott Freeman has taught at many of the nation's premiere actor training programs and is recognized as one of the leading acting teachers in the country. His studio in New York was created to provide a place for working professionals to continue their artistic growth, and promising actors to develop their talents.
With the increasing pressures and time constraints of the rehearsal hall, film set, and audition room, it is more important than ever that actors be given permission to slow down. The studio allows actors to concentrate on process, as well as develop methods for practical application of their technique in the workplace.
So often, for the trained actor, taking class is not about learning new concepts, but being reminded of them and learning how to use them more effectively. The studio allows an actor to do just that, in a nurturing environment and at a peer level respectful of their talents.

Professional Class
Section 1: Wednesdays 6:00-10:00pm
Section 2: Thursdays 1:00-5:00pm
  • Prescriptively assigned scene study. As the actor progresses in the class, there is increased collaboration in choosing material.
Actors will have the opportunity to present their scene work in every  class.
  • Assigned and non-prep acting exercises. These exercises are designed to augment the work being done in class.  Some will be selected on an individual basis to address something that has come up in that actor’s work.
  • Time is always set aside in each class for monologue work and/or upcoming audition material.

Foundation Classes [in collaboration with TheStellaAdlerConservatory]
Tuesdays 6:30 -9:30pm
Thursdays 6:30 to 9:30pm
  • These classes are a combination of fundamental acting exercises, prescriptive assignments and scene study designed to establish a strong foundation for each actor. Emphasis is placed on a practical and visceral technique for analyzing text, active personalization, the specific creation of character, emotional accessibility, and the ability to act on impulse with imagination and heart.

Professional Classes are $275 a month. The month cycle begins on or near the 15th of every month. However, slots often open up during the cycle as actors must leave the studio for acting jobs.  There are no classes held from December 15th to January 15th.

Foundation Classes are on a ten-week schedule.  Please go to www.stellaadler.com for details.

For those actors who have not previously studied with Scott Freeman, an interview and audition is required. Please prepare a 2 to 3 minute monologue that you feel represents your work. The monologue should be from published material.  To arrange a meeting, contact the studio.
